Just Like Seattle: Day of Seattle

Veggie Man: "Look! This is from Am-ehr-eeka! Like you!"
YGirl: "Oh my God! This is from my land! My state!"
VM: "Yes, U.S.A."
YGirl: "This is just like Seattle!"

Hey! Look! It's some twirly glass! Chihuly twirly glass!
It's just like Seattle!

Hey! Look! Young hoodlums rascals making lots of noise with their skateboards!
It's just like Seattle!

(In the restaurant:)
YGirl: "Excuse me! Why do you have these wines?"
Waiter: "Umm, these ones?"
YGirl: "Yes, they are from close to my house in America."
Waiter: "Uh, I dunno, maybe the price? Or maybe it's the taste?"
YGirl: "Awesome."

Dale Chihuly, WA State Homeboy!

My darling Diana and I went to Tel Aviv to take in the Chihuly glass art exhibit at the Litvak Gallery.

The Opera House (is it sad that when I saw it I thought of the foiled terrorist attack that targeted this beautiful building?)

Another building in that area:

This is the lobby of the building that houses the gallery (and some embassies):

This is the terrace of the Litvak Gallery with three Chihuly installations:

Gorgeous, right? I got goosebumps just standing in front of the blue tower.

Then we ate dinner at a noodle bar and dessert with Nina, another classmate.
Lovely day!

Long time no....

I am so sorry to have neglected poor little bloggy blog.

Here's a little update:

I have been back in Israel since the 3rd. Later that night, lovely Amanda stayed with me for a couple days!

She waited patiently while I finished my horrible Research Methods paper and then we went to Tel Aviv for the day. Her friend joined us, and Sweet J did as well! We went to the Shuk, my favorite restaurant near the shuk, Dizengoff, etc. It was nice.

School started last week. I am taking another course with the illustrious Prof. Adamsky, Strategy and Deterrence. I am also taking courses in Negotiation, Fundraising, Strategic SURPRISE! and (another favorite from undergrad) Political Theory. We are doing a survey of the great political theorists, but with a twist of comparing their thoughts with those of female thinkers. I am so excited! Elizabeth Spellman, here I come!

I am making some new friends in my classes this semester because we have more people in our courses. In the first semester, we hardly had any Diplomacy kids in our classes, and now we share a fair number of classes! Hurrah for new friends.

I have been fighting a general ennui. I think I have lost my mojo!

The Flight Home (Israel Home)

My flights were long, but over all I made pretty good time. The layover was short and the flights both arrived ahead of schedule.

In addition to questioning me regarding the difference between Jews and Israelis (he still doesn't get it), my delightful seat neighbor took these pictures for me!!

I arrived in Israel, exhausted and ready to sleep for days! Kobi and Yaara picked me up and brought me home.
Last that night, Amanda arrived!

Technical Difficulties

I apologize for not posting much recently. I am having trouble uploading pictures and let's be honest - we all love the pictures!

In the mean time, please enjoy the video from the Herzliya Conference. It's really important in Israel and in policy making fields that are concerned with Israeli issues. And it's held at my school!

Ladies and Gents, the Secretary General of NATO.

The Governor of Mississippi.

One of the panels I attended!
