Israeli answer to maple syrup

One of the most difficult things for me about living in Israel is the sudden lack of or great expense associated with familial food items. Cheddar is expensive cheese. Gin is exotic liquor. And maple syrup is really expensive!

And so, I find myself discovering new and lovely things:

Silan - Date Honey.

It's delicious and sweet, with a fairly strong taste of dates. Today I had it on oatmeal with dried apricots and slivered almonds:
